MRC x James Berry Fund 80th Ride
The Manx Road Club is delighted to confirm that the forthcoming 80km / 80th Anniversary ride being held on Saturday 6th October is to be combined with this year’s annual James Berry Memorial Ride. The event, which is non-competitive will commence at 09:00 from the Manx Harriers Clubhouse on the NSC outdoor perimeter track and will include a refreshments stop at the Ballabeg Methodist Church Hall. All riders of all abilities will be most welcome with an entry fee of a minimum £10 donation on the day.
Founded in 2006, the James Berry Fund was set up in James’s memory by riders from the Island’s cycling clubs and is administered through the Isle of Man Cycling Association. James was a young promising Isle of Man cyclist who was tragically killed in December 2005 while out training with fellow Manx cyclists. The aim of the fund is predominantly to give support to young Isle of Man riders who wish to gain experience racing in Europe and beyond.
Since its inception in 2007 the Fund has raised over £16,000 to help local young cyclists experience racing across the UK and Europe and the memorial ride out not only assists in providing financial assistance to the Fund but provides a really great end of season opportunity for cyclists of all ages and abilities to come together for a ride, café stop and a social get together.
Full details of the route (which will be marked) etc. are available on the MRC website.
Additionally the 80th Anniversary shirts have arrived for all those who have ordered one. Please give Mike a call on 493394 to arrange collection from 92 Cronk Liauyr, Tromode Park
